E-marketing assignment on Olympics Web TV Essay

E-marketing assignment on Olympics Web TV - Essay Example As a new company Olympics Web TV will have strengths with regards to its marketing mix on product, place, promotion, people and physical evidence. From the outset the product will be specifically designed for online delivery and as such the organisation can easily personalise their product to different consumer tastes and also avoid the costly challenges that its multi-delivery competitors faced in migrating their offerings to the Web. This focused-delivery mode will result in huge savings for Olympics Web TV especially in terms of infrastructure needed to operate. Olympics Web TV could use the new computing paradigms such as cloud computing to convert capital expenditure into operating expenditure, and easily scale their offering as and when required thus maximising on investment for product innovation. As an Internet-provisioned product, Olympics Web TV will be cheap to distribute and cost comparatively less to promote in comparison to non-Internet enabled TV products. Finally, online provisioned products have significantly less human resource requirements and less investment in physical evidence. These shall provide Olympics Web TV with huge savings as well. Olympics Web TV weaknesses shall mainly be encountered in its marketing mix under price and processes. The greatest cost for online TV is content licensing. As a new company Olympics Web TV may not have the huge resources required to compete with incumbents in securing the lucrative Olympics licensing rights. Moreover, the incumbents, such as the BBC and ITV, have the advantage of having had previous relationships with several key content providers such as movie rights, International Olympics Committee (IOC), FIFA and so on. Secondly, streaming video has an impact on customer Internet usage and, thus, increases cost of service to the consumer. With regards to processes, online TV has got lower switching costs in comparison to say, cable TV thus Olympics Web TV will have to ensure that its processes operate at optimal efficiency around the clock. As a new player, Olympics Web TV does not own or have access to significant existing infrastructure and this may have a negative impact on i ts processes. In spite of the above weaknesses, there are a number of opportunities that Olympic Web TV could exploit to create sustainable competitive advantages. For starters, the global trend towards increased online video streaming and Internet usage is an emerging market that provides an almost equal and open platform for new and established players to be innovative. Secondly, unlike its competitors, BBC and ITV, Olympics Web TV can easily enter into joint affiliations and partnerships even with both organisations and end up leveraging their content to its advantage. The large industry players are more likely to enter into joint affiliations and partnerships with small organizations than with each other. All said Olympics Web TV must also be wary of the following threats: (1) the impact pirated content has on the video streaming culture; (2) competition from emerging services such as Apple’s iTunes and also from existing video-streaming service providers such as YouTube; and (3) the non-competitive practices of large incumbents with deep pockets. Competitor analysis According to Porter (1998) competitor analysis involves looking at: the competitor’s objectives, competitor’s assumptions, competitor’s strategy and competitor’

Othello’s Heroism :: Othello essays

Othello’s Heroism  Ã‚         Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello treats the audience to considerable heroism, not only from the hero and heroine but also from unexpected characters.    Kenneth Muir, in the Introduction to William Shakespeare: Othello,   explains how the consensus of the characters in the drama testify to the heroism of the general:    The testimony of all the main characters in the play is decisive. Brabantio loved him; Lodovico speaks of him as ‘the noble Moor’ ‘once so good’; Cassio, who has good cause to hate him, addresses him as ‘Dear General’ and speaks his epitaph: ‘he was great of heart’. The Duke declares that he is more fair than black. Montano is delighted to hear of Othello’s appointment as Governor. But the most significant testimony to Othello’s character comes from the one man who hates him. Iago confesses that the state ‘Cannot with safety cast him’ because ‘Another of his fathom they have none’. (29)    A character’s attitude toward the most fearful foe – death itself – is unquestionably a criterion for judging a heroic type from a non-heroic type. Helen Gardner in â€Å"Othello: A Tragedy of Beauty and Fortune† considers Iago’s wife Emilia to be a true hero of the play because of her fearless outlook on death itself:    Emilia’s silence while her mistress lived is fully explicable in terms of her character. She shares with her husband the generalizing trick and is well used to domestic scenes. The jealous, she knows,    are not ever jealous for the cause But jealous for they are jealous.    If it was not the handkerchief it would be something else. Why disobey her husband and risk his fury? It would not do any good. This is what men are like. But Desdemona dead sweeps away all such generalities and all caution. At this sight, Emilia though ‘the world is a huge thing’ finds that there is a thing she will not do for it. By her heroic disregard for death she gives the only ‘proof’ there can be of Desdemona’s innocence: the testimony of faith. (145)    At the outset of the play Iago persuades the rejected suitor of Desdemona, Roderigo, to accompany him to the home of Brabantio, Desdemona’s father, in the middle of the night. Once there the two awaken the senator with loud shouts about his daughter’s elopement with Othello.

About hippotherapy known since the time of Hippocrates. He claimed that the wounded and the sick get better faster if they ride on horseback, and melancholic part with their dark thoughts. In the middle of the XVIII century the encyclopedist Denis Diderot, in his treatise: â€Å"About riding and what it means to maintain health and to find it again†, wrote: â€Å"Among the exercise the first place belongs to ride. It can be used to trea t many diseases, but may also prevent them befores they appear. Hippotherapy is a comprehensive and multi-method of rehabilitation, a form of physiotherapy (physical therapy), where tools for rehabilitation are the horse, the process of riding and exercising that a person does during riding. While riding all the major muscle groups of the body receive a work out. This occurs at a reflex level, because sitting on the horse, moving along with it, the person instinctively tries to keep the balance not to fall off the horse, and thus encourages the active work of both healthy and affected muscles, without noticing it.Hippotherapy is the only type of treatment when the patient may not understand that he is treated, riding and communication with the horse becomes a game. Psychogenic factor increases the ability to adapt to reality. For a person with a mental disorder, the position on a horse becomes winning – â€Å"I above, but they below†. All the fundamental principles of psychotherapy – a unity of place and characters, the unity of time and unity of action – stay complied. Hippotherapy is effective in: †¢ Cerebral palsy. †¢ Orthopedic syndromes. †¢ Disorders of the musculoskeletal system that result from paralysis and other lesions of the central nervous system. Lesions of the senses – blindness, deafness. †¢ Disorders of posture, scoliosis †¢ Malformations of the limbs. †¢ Various forms of intellectual disability resulting from organic or genetic diseases. †¢ Down syndrome. †¢ Violations of the psycho-emotional sphere: * Autism * Neuroses * Mental retardation * Schizophrenia * Emotional disorders * Social maladjustment * Syndrome of hyperactivity * The state of anxiety The process of riding improves blood circulation and breathing, it involves the work of almost all the muscles and tendons, ligaments and joints of the body.This is particularly important for autistic people, who cannot be motor-active without stimulation from the outside – not counting their stereotypical movements. The horseback riding includes training of overall coordination, maintaining balance and responsiveness. It trains senses and a deep sensitivity. Through the senses different stimuli are taken and accumulated. The horse becomes a link between the inner world of the person and the surrounding reality. Communion of human and horse is a full chain of communicative feedback between person and the outside world, which allows a person to perceive reality more wholly.Analysis of the organization: Hippotherapy center SPIRIT was established in 2010 in Kiev, by a group of enthusiasts with the support of Children's Psychological Center. We are not an exception, being heard in Ukraine.A charity event is going to take place in Kiev, organized by volunteers and Hippotherapy center SPIRIT. It is an event for children with mental disabilities from rehabilitation center. Do we hear about hippotherapy every day? It is a form of physical, occup ational and speech therapy in which a therapist uses the characteristic movements of a horse to provide carefully graded motor and sensory input. Hippotherapy is also used in speech and language pathology. This method uses a horse to accomplish traditional speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing goals.Using hippotherapy, appropriate sensory processing strategies have been integrated into the treatment to facilitate successful communication. So, basically we can help the children without them even noticing it. The charity event is taking place on 6 April 2013. Children are transported from the rehabilitation center right to the HC SPIRIT. The parents are also invited to receive more information about the therapy. Hippo therapy center SPIRIT was pleased to help in organizing this event on their part.That’s why the project has a form of charity event. Center SPIRIT was founded in 2010 in Kiev by a group of enthusiasts with the support of the Children's Psychiatric Center. Experts of the center hold higher education degrees and have been trained on the course â€Å"Hippotherapy for children's diseases† abroad. At the center work professional psychologists, rehabilitation specialists, neurologist. Horses are specifically purchased for use in hippotherapy and are trained by professional athletes. We care about safety. Classes are held with the participation of three people: the ringleader, hippotherapist and assistant to hippotherapist.Biography of the CEO Director of the Hippotherapy center Spirit, Anna Burago, established the center in 2010. Prior to that, she took a course â₠¬Å"Rehabilitation of patients with limited ability† at Medics’ Retraining Facility of People’s Friendship University of Russia. She is a specialist in rehabilitation. In May 2010 she completed a course in â€Å"Ridetherapy in Children’s Diseases† and got a qualification of instuctor of hippotherapy at Tbilisi Medical Academy. Every year the center organizes special events regarding hippotherapy. List of quotationsA parent says about the results of therapy: â€Å"The biggest change for Maxim has been the area of speech. Before the hippotherapy, he could say only a few words clearly and would attempt speech only if it was modeled for him. After only four sessions, Maxim speaks about 20 words clearly and is making approximations of several more, sometimes spontaneously. Something extraordinary happens to Maxim when he is up on that horse. The feeling of the rhythm of the horse walking seems to be helping Maxim’s brain organize what it needs to make speech happen. † Professor M.Rukhadze tells about the difference of hippotherapy from clinics: â€Å"Hippotherapy takes the patient out of the traditional clinical setting and places them into a more relaxed, yet stimulating atmosphere in order to help them meet their functional goals. Patients are in a natural environment, which may help integrate their needs into everyday life experiences. Children, who are sensitive to being â€Å"different†, do not consider the riding environment to be a clinic. † Logo Questionnaire for journalists 1. Name and last name 2. Company 3. Phone number 4. World Peace

21st the world is encouraged to recognize that day as a day of peace. I think it is quite easy for people to look at places around the world where there is clearly hostility going on, whether it be the Middle East, Africa, or inner cities in the United States, and think why can’t there simply be peace. To me peace is not about looking at places of hostility around the world and saying there must be peace there. Real peace around the world begins within you. Check inside and honestly answer the questions â€Å"Am I at peace within myself? â€Å"How do I express and encourage peace in my interactions with others? † Many people if they are honest are not at peace within themselves. They have allowed what is going on their physical world to disturb their peace. With their peace disturbed, they have either consciously or unconsciously disturbed the peace of those around them. I believe we must master peace within ourselves before we can hope to have authentic peace with anyone else. That is not to say that the two cannot be pursued simultaneously. There are wonderful organizations such as The Center For Non-Violent Communication, that can assist you in both recognizing the needs both within yourself and others so that you can have peaceful win/win conversations even in difficult circumstances. You can also make a conscious choice to release the thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that are responsible for disturbing your peace, and reprogram your subconscious mind to create peace in your life. In honor of International Peace Day 2009, I have created ten affirmations for personal peace within you, and ten affirmations for peace around the world. In a country, Peace is a term that most commonly refers to an absence of aggression, violence or hostility. Peace isn’t the absence of violence but rather the presence of justice. In a society, peace happens when different desires are in one agreement. Peace is based on many things, culture, education, family values, experience, & history (to name a few) but the basis is the same—-to co-exist without war, killing, & overpowering a fellow being. According to me, Peace is the feeling that all's right with the world. When everyone around me in my family, my friend circle and my neighbourhood is happy, eager to love, accept and relate†¦ I feel at peace. Also, to me it means following what my heart says and sharing mutual trust and respect for people around me. However, in today’s world, peace and harmony face various threats. Terrorism, regional imbalance, economic disparity, and social inequality are some of the factors which threaten peace today. We all are so engrossed in our busy lifestyles and yet want our lives to be peaceful. We expect that peace to be omnipresent but what we need to realize is the fact that if we want peace- we have to live peacefully, love everyone, forgive, forget, etc. . It’s not enough to stand around asking if world peace will ever happen because that won’t do anything. Actions speak louder than any words. If everyone starts living the peaceful, loving way, things will change. But someone has to start and lead by example. Mahatma Gandhi once said â€Å"You must be the change you wish to see in the world. We can’t rely on anyone else to do this. We have to do these ourselves. Acceptance, compassion, and tolerance are the foundation of peace. Mahatma Gandhi showed that peace ends suffering and oppression, not by warring against an enemy but by bearing witness to wrongs and allowing sympathy and common humanity to do their patient work. Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa lived different aspects of peace, which was proven to be a viable way to achieve great things. A Human Approach to World Peace When we rise in the morning and listen to the radio or read the newspaper, we are confronted with the same sad news: violence, crime, wars, and disasters. I cannot recall a single day without a report of something terrible happening somewhere. Even in these modern times it is clear that one's precious life is not safe. No former generation has had to experience so much bad news as we face today; this constant awareness of fear and tension should make any sensitive and compassionate person question seriously the progress of our modern world. World peace is an ideal of freedom, peace, and happiness among and within all nations and/or peoples. World peace is a Utopian idea of planetary non-violence by which nations willingly cooperate, either voluntarily or by virtue of a system of governance that prevents warfare. Although the term is sometimes used to refer to a cessation of all hostility among all individuals, world peace more commonly refers to a permanent end to global and regional wars with future conflicts resolved through nonviolent means.
